Religious Education/Formation

At St. Leo the Great Parish we strive to provide the best possible religious education for our parish community. Sue Doty is the Director of Religious Education. Religious Education assistants in the office are Beth Doty and Annette Willett.

We are a resource to the parish community offering opportunities in faith formation, prayer and worship, community and service to others.

The following oppportunities benefit our entire parish community as we work together to bring about the Kingdom of God:

Generations of Faith - an innovative approach to parish faith formation that involves all generations in learning and growing together through their experience and participation in church life. Adult volunteers meet often to plan and implement catechesis for the entire parish community.

Welcome Your Child - prepares parents for the baptism of the child by giving them relational and spiritual help to raise their child in the Catholic faith, meets monthly. Parents are asked to attend two sessions, and children are baptized at a parish liturgy.

Religious Education (Grades 1 - 8) - Wednesday sessions for public school youth runs throughout the school year, and class times are at 4:10-5:20 pm, 5:35-6:45 pm, and 7:00-8:10 pm. Various religious education opportunities for families are also provided during class times.

Sunday School - offered during the 9 am and 11 am Sunday Masses through the school year. This last throughout the entire mass. School-age children learn how to live God's Word in a way that they can understand and in which they can participate actively.

Liturgy of the Word - offered during the 9 am and 11 am Sunday Masses through the school year. This last only through the Liturgy of the word part of mass (no registration needed). School-age children learn how to live God's Word in a way that they can understand and in which they can participate actively.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Children - a special part of our religious education program which prepares and welcomes baptized and non-baptized children grades 3-8 into the sacraments of initiation. This program corresponds to the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and allows whole families to become Catholic together. It also presents a child with a complete overview of the Catholic faith.

ACTS Drama Group - presents God's message in various creative ways throughout the year, consists of junior and senior high students with an interest in acting. These youth rehearse and present skits for various celebrations during the year.

Vacation Bible School - held in June for children ages 4 through Grade 5. Volunteers from teen through adults enjoy making this a fun, faith-filled experience for everyone.

Religious Education Office
St. Leo the Great Religious Education Office invests time and effort into identifying, forming and assisting catechists who present, teach, and model Catholic Christianity. St. Leo Parish Community is very grateful to all of the volunteers who enable us to continue our fine tradition of religious education and formation.
