St Leo Tree Our Pastors
For all our pastors and their legacy of holiness, We give thanks

Fr. Vincent Mainelli

Fr. Vincent Mainelli was our founding pastor. Sharing a vision of simplicity and commitment to the poor, Fr. Vince guided the original parishioners as they designed and built a church that keeps our focus on Christ and his Body the church. Planned as a flexible space that accommodates the work of liturgy, we focus on the table, and on one another. The simplicity of the building also concretely exemplifies the commitment of the parish to service to, and solidarity with, those in need. From the very beginning St. Leo Parish has provided food, clothing, service and prayer for the less fortunate in our own city and far away. Under Fr. Mainelli, the Francis Siena House meal program began, a family from overseas was sponsored, and the hospital ministry program began as well as many other services. He gave us a great gift of parish life based on gospel living.

Fr. Pat McCaslin

Fr. Pat McCaslin was our second pastor. His warmth and humor touched us all as he too called us to be followers of Christ. There were never enough opportunities to celebrate God's goodness for Fr. Pat, and that included communal celebrations of Reconciliation as well as parish dinners and donut Sundays. People were precious to Fr. Pat, whether he was witnessing a wedding, anointing the sick or using the infamous stainless steel bucket to baptize an adult convert, he gave himself in love. Fr. Pat too had a great commitment to the poor, and encouraged our participation in OTOC and Habitat for Humanity.

Fr. Pat is remembered for many things, but we just have to mention the Weber grill as an example of the myriad of ways ministry finds expression. Fr. Pat gave us the great gift of parish life based on the call of all the baptized to love and forgiveness.

Fr. Dick Swolek

Fr. Dick Swolek was with us only one brief year but he too made his mark. Fr. Dick had a great gift for facilitating meaningful liturgy. His extensive knowledge of scripture and church teaching combined with his eloquence made him a great teacher and homilist. Fr. Dick gave us the gift of parish life celebrated and made glorious in the work of liturgy.

Fr. Harry Buse

Fr. Harry Buse is our current pastor and we have once again been blessed with a holy and caring leader. A solid kind of man of organization and energy, Fr. Harry brings his own special gifts to St. Leo Parish. He shares his sincere love for God and the church as he calls us to stewardship of all the gifts we have been given. He is a great listener who is always ready to share our burdens and our joys. He enlivens our parish life with Italian dinners and chili. Fr. Harry gives us the gift of parish life rooted in faith and love of our Lord.
