St Leo Tree Young Adult Ministry: YACHT Club

Welcome

The YACHT Club is a group of adults in their 20's and 30's who gather to make friends, build community, socialize, pray and serve our communities.

We come from all walks of life, married or single, and with or without children.

YACHT is an acronym for: Young Adults Coming Home Together.

Spiritual
Although spirituality is the anchor of everything we do, certain activities have a direct spiritual focus. Some of the things we have done in the past year include: sitting together at weekly Mass, praying the rosary together using different themes, prayer reading/reflection/meditation, trip to Joslyn Art Museum to see illuminated Bible, and outdoor Masses.

Service
We want to make a splash in our communities by putting our faith into action. Therefore, we serve in a variety of roles. We have served others in Omaha by: making dinner for families at The Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity, serving food at Siena Francis House, sponsoring children for Christmas gifts and back-to-school supplies, and initiating service projects with various charity partners We also serve our parish community by working at the Lenten Stew and Brew, assisting with St. Leo’s Mardi Gras celebration and annual church picnic, and helping with our parish’s high school youth group events and service projects.

Social
Work, Pray, and Play– the three sails of the YACHT Club! We have a mix of fun activities in and out of Omaha including: Road Rally city-wide scavenger hunt, drive-in movie theatre in church parking lot, Niobrara canoe trips and Colorado ski trips, Oktoberfest with polka lessons, Shakespeare on the Green, weekly sand volleyball teams, botanical garden visit, annual progressive dinner at member houses, hayrack ride, Cinco de Mayo celebration, game nights– board game and sports nights, Lincoln Haymarket excursion, happy hours and book club.

No young adult group is an island. We connect with our peers from other parishes in the diocese through events such as: Theology on Tap, Pilgrimage to the Holy Family Shrine, running/walking group, and Pizza with a Priest.

We invite you to attend any of our events! No registration forms, passports, IDs, or life jacks required!! For a current list of events click on "Calendar" at the top of the page. If you are interested in receiving our bi-monthly calendar and newsletter via email contact John Gencarelli at contact info listed below.

We believe we are all on a journey toward God, our home. And who likes to make a trip alone, so welcome aboard!
