St Leo Tree Liturgy of the Word for Children (LWC)

"Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs."

In Words They Can Understand

The Sacred Scriptures embody the living Word of God. However, sometimes the readings at Mass are difficult for children to follow. That is why we have this special Ministry for children in which they can hear the Word of God in a language that makes sense to them. The lessons and themes of scripture are taught to them in interesting ways that relate to their young lives.

Proclaimer and Teacher

This Minister Proclaims the Word by reading the First Reading and Gospel for that day. They then teach the word in order to help the children further understand what the readings of the week are all about.

Song Leader

This Minister leads the children in singing the Responsorial Psalm of the day as well as a Gospel Acclamation (Alleluia). If time allows other songs of the season could be sung. A piano and guitar are available upon request.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to go to Mass again after an LWC Mass?
Fr. Harry prefers that you do, but it is not 100% necessary.

Can I run LWC by myself or do I need another adult with me?
Ultimately, it depends on the number of kids for that week, but we would like to have "at least" two adults with the group at all times.
